Marriage Liturgy Preparation

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Once you have completed your Wedding Inquiry Form, it is time to begin the liturgical preparation for your mass or ceremony. This process may seem overwhelming, but we are here to help! If you have any questions or would like to set up a meeting or Zoom chat, contact our director of sacred music and liturgy, Michael Ruzicki.

Planning Process
It is recommended to complete this process on a computer or tablet.

Step One: Review this interactive Wedding Liturgy Planning Guide Worksheet. Start making decisions about music and readings (This document has links to songs and readings.) Consider printing and completing this document before moving to step two of this planning process. If you need assistance, our parish director of sacred liturgy and music would be happy to meet with you at this point.

Step Two: Complete this online form. It is the same thing as the worksheet listed above – simply transfer your answers into this form.

Step Three: After submitting the online form, confirm that the director of sacred music and liturgy has received this document.

Timeline: This planning process should be completed one month prior to your wedding. If you are requesting additional musicians, this should be completed two months prior to your wedding.

A few notes about music…
• Outside musicians: Accompanists and cantors (vocalists) are assigned by the parish. If you are interested in having outside musicians, they will need to be approved by our director of sacred music and liturgy. These musicians must be familiar with the Roman Catholic liturgy and submit the contact information for parish music director or priest to serve as a reference.
• Liturgical and Secular music: Use the worksheet above to listen to a variety of recommended music choices. There are many songs that refer to love or God that may not be appropriate for the Catholic liturgy. If you have any questions about music that is not on our recommended list of songs, our parish director of sacred music will assist you in determining what can be sung in the church and what should be played at the wedding reception.
